A Note about her new book from Janie Pirie

Our Coloured Pencil Tutor Janie Pirie writes:

I’m writing to let you know about a book of rose illustrations that I’ve been working on for the past two and a half years.  The publication date is set for mid-October this year.

Called ‘Rosa’, the book will contain around 40 illustrations of roses that have a connection to my life.  In a nutshell it’s a narrative of my life told through the names of roses that have a special meaning to me.  For instance, Rosa ‘The Lark Ascending’ is in the book because this was the piece of music that inspired my love of classical pieces.  Rosa ‘Anne Boleyn’ is featured because I loved the Tudor period in my history lessons as school.  Rosa ‘Just Joey’ has a place too because it was bred by Cant’s roses and is named after one of my best friends.  I’m sure you get the picture now.

The book is most definitely a ‘coffee table’ book.  It will be approx.. 12” sq., linen bound, hard-backed and with a ‘stay-flat’ format.  This means no part of a picture will be lost in the centre spine.  The book will be presented in a linen bound, hard-backed sleeve.  There will only be 1,000 copied printed, each numbered and signed by me.  The cost will be £100 plus P&P.  I am happy to post the book worldwide.

One of the images is included here so you can get a flavour of what will be included.

This information is being sent now before the book is offered on sale, indeed, before it is even printed.  I am trying to gauge the level of interest.  If you think you may like a copy of this book I would be most happy to hear from you.  I already have a lot of people who have expressed an interest in a certain number (i.e. No.21 or No.65) because it means something to them.  If there is a certain number you would like to reserve please let me know.  Please give a couple of alternatives as more than 45 have already been reserved.

By the end of June there will be a spreadsheet on my website  where you can fill in your name, address etc. and make a payment.  This is coming to you before that happens to give you first choice.

Best wishes, Janie
