BOOKBINDING: SECRET BELGIAN BINDING
October 8th at 18:30 to October 11th at 13:30
Invented in the mid-1980s by a Belgian bookbinder, you could say it was a Western version of the traditional Japanese stab binding techniques. The binder wanted a book that would open flat but with the appearance of the stab sewing. Also known as a ‘crisscross binding’. Perhaps the secret is that nobody is certain who invented it. Our first day will be printing the covering paper using a Dendtritic mono print technique. All you will need is good hand skills and Doug will guide you through step by step.
