GEOLOGY OF THE LAKES: AN INTRODUCTION

May 3rd at 18:30 to May 5th at 16:00

Why does Lake District topography vary so much from rolling Kendal foothill, to jagged Central Fell peak, to majestic yet rounded Skiddaw north mountain? Travel through almost 500 millon years of geological history – stories of ancient oceans, volcanoes, Himalayan-scale ranges, tropical seas, swamps, deserts and ice ages. Includes trips out with walking – bring boots and outdoor gear!

N.B.: Ends at Tea Break 4pm on the last day. Endorsed by the Geological Society.
