MODERN ART ON LOCATION: CUMBRIA AND THE AVANT GARDE
June 23rd at 18:30 to June 25th at 13:30
*NEW* Winifred Nicholson, Ben Nicholson and the landscapes of
Hadrian’s Wall and the North Pennines.
As rising stars of British modernism, the Nicholson’s links spanned
London, Paris and other European centres of the avant-garde but their
north Cumbrian home near Hadrian’s Wall was Winifred’s lodestone.
Many artistic friends (Paul Nash, Ivon Hitchens, Christopher Wood)
were drawn to stay and work alongside them. Learn about their work,
visit some of the places they painted and reflect and respond to these
places yourself: Bring something to be creative with, i.e. camera,
notebook or sketchbook and sturdy shoes.
NEW TUTOR: Dr Elizabeth Fisher (www.highamhall.com/elizabeth-fisher)
Residential: £257 Non-residential: £187 (inc. Field Trip)
