MUSIC APPRECIATION: ASPECTS OF LATE ROMANTICISM

December 11th at 18:30 to December 13th at 13:30

Wagner’s legacy influenced a generation of composers who wanted to go further: Scriabin’s Poem of Ecstasy, Mahler’s 10th, Richard Strauss’ Alpine, Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night and his Gurrelieder show different responses to this quest. Schmidt and Korngold developed a less fevered approach.
