Pam will demonstrate how digital devices add exciting new options to an artist's tools for making images and can be used to create artwork that is both expressive and representational. Learn how to use chalk paints to produce both traditional and popular shabby chic painted furniture. Basic freehand painting and stencilling techniques will be covered and colour washing, glazing and waxing will be used to produce naturally antiqued and distressed finishes. Capitalise on the northern Lakes in Winter - visit and record some special locations creating lightning sketches without battling with the tourists. We'll be a sort of 'flash mob' armed with pencils, pens and sketch books. Returning to Higham we'll carry on working one of them up into a more finished drawing. Explore the wonderful world of metallic decoration. Introducing a wide range of metallic media, including real metal leaf, metallic powders and metallic transfer foil. Explore a variety of techniques and combine media to texture, colour, oxidise and distress your samples. Experiment with combinations of media on both flat and raised surfaces and build up a collection of experimental samples which will provide dramatic starting points for further use.
