Higham courses have a uniqueness about them in format, content and character. We are a place where expert Tutors can deliver longer, deeper experiences for people to enjoy, where individuals come to spend time with like-minded others, being fed, watered and inspired.
Unrestricted to term times, Residential courses run throughout the year and cover areas such as: Art, Art Appreciation, Pastimes, Bridge, Crafts, Textiles, Wood, Health, History, Archaeology, Literature, Philosophy, Music, the Arts, Nature, the Sciences, Photo, Languages, Field Trips and Summer Schools. Day events cover a similar range of activities and also including art history talks, art demonstrations, concerts and performances and many people from the local area enjoy these.
The Tutors we engage are inspirational and something special.  Being residential, we take advantage of the opportunity to bring experts here who otherwise would not delivering in this area. Equally, we also use the talents of some superb locals. We engage expert Tutors of all ages – continuing the true lifelong learning tradition. Indeed, there is no upper age limit at Higham for either Tutors or, indeed, Students!
Since 2007, Higham has been totally independent and self-supporting, literally funded by the people who use us.  We focus on what we do best, and that is courses.  Hopefully the selected examples in the advert illustrate a little of the range we offer.
Finally, as we are a charitable educational trust, with the help of our supporting organisation The Friends of Higham, some subsidies can sometimes be available for people on a restricted income who receiving certain state benefits, to enable them to attend courses. You can find details of our Assisted Places Scheme and, of course, all our courses by subject, on our website.
