Kay Leech, who was awarded the first Friends of Higham Scholarship, has made a great start on her ‘journey’ through various courses. The outcome will be that Kay will produce artistic or craft work based upon her experiences of and learning from each course. Higham will host an exhibition later this year to showcase what Kay will have produced. Kay’s Facebook is: https://en-gb.facebook.com/kayleechtextiles/
We have heard both from Kay herself and other students who have been with her on courses about her resultant creative exploits. We won’t ruin it with explicit spoilers, but from what we have seen so far, we are in for a real treat and what will be for Higham, a wonderful example of how Lifelong Learning experiences might influence creative pursuits!
So far, Kay has attended:
- Sketching with an iPad
- Geology of Britain
- Crochet Freeform
So she has not simply chosen art or craft course to come on. You might expect, however, that something we see at the end of this year may reflect rock layers or formations and even a freer approach to combining thread!
