Former Tutor Eileen Silcocks

It is will sadness that I have to share the news that Eileen passed away last month. Eileen inspired others to play the recorder and to enjoy music. She will be sorely missed by many who knew her and followed her for a long time. I had the privilege of knowing her just for a few years but I recognised in her the qualities that make a good teacher, including patience and kindness and, of course, professional skill. When the time came for Eileen to pass on her baton as a tutor, she was so helpful with suggestions for a successor, even though she could have quite reasonably left the problem for us. I appreciated her professionalism and know that many Higham-ites will be missing her.
