yorkshire-based freelance musician and instrumental teacher
formerly worked for Barnsley Music Service as Curriculum Development Officer
organises close to his home the Rafter's Ukulele Club, Uke Power Festival and is MD of the Penistone Folk Ensemble
delivers workshops at festivals and summer schools all over the UK and in Europe.
Chris' approach to musical participation is inclusive and he welcomes anyone onto his courses, which appeal to those who've wielded their instruments in anger before, and also those who've put it off all their lives.
The idea of workshops that allow anyone to come, share and leave feeling more confident is a simple one, but one we endorse fully here at Higham. We also recognise that musicians can feel self-conscious about their capabilities, so Chris makes a point of encouraging everybody. After all, you can only gain confidence by giving it a go and being part of something is a great way to achieve this.
Spending time with someone so active in the music circuit is a great opportunity to expand your musical horizons, we think.
