John Mather (History and Civil Engineering)

  • Chartered Civil Engineer, having studied at Bristol University in 1976
  • a 41 year career in the construction and maintenance of highways & bridges
  • Lifelong passion for history and swimming (for his 60th he decided to swim all the biggest lakes in the Lake District!)
John’s talks all have a link with the local region and topics we hope to put on include: A VICTORIAN RAILWAY ENGINEER, THE BORDER REGIMENT and THE CARLISLE TO NEWCASTLE MILITARY ROAD.
