Ruth Burbidge (Recorders)

  • spent three years at the Royal Academy of music, studying piano and flute
  • after several years teaching spent a year at Trinity College of Music studying piano, flute, recorder and harpsichord – winning the prestigious Raymond Russell Prize for harpsichord and was very involved in the Early Music scene
  • has performed many times as a soloist and accompanist, on recorder and harpsichord
  • well-known for her accompanying and tutoring skills, even internationally
  • Director of the chamber recorder orchestra “The Eleven”
  • her Music Publishing businesses Peacock Press and Recorder Music Mail are well-known amongst musicians
Ruth is currently stepping-in for our regular Tutor Eileen Silcocks, who is unwell. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have someone so experienced as Ruth.
We also have established a thriving EARLY MUSIC SUMMER SCHOOL each year under the auspices of Tutor Roger Wilkes.
