In 1928, at sixty-two and a Senator of the Irish Free State, Yeats published ‘The Tower’, by common consent his greatest collection of poetry. This book contains some of the finest utterances of the C20th, relating it to Yeats’s life, his beliefs, his work in the theatre, and the momentous times through which he lived.
