Amanda Oakes (Yoga)

January 26th at 16:12

Amanda has been practicing yoga for over 40 years, focused on the personalised approach of viniyoga within individual tuition from 1992. She completed the four year Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapy Training through the cYs Practitioner Programme in December 2009. Respecting the spirit of viniyoga as taught by TKV Desichahar ‘Teach what is inside you. Not as it applies to you, to yourself, but as it applies to the other’. Amanda is an accredited teacher member of the British Wheel of Yoga (BMY) and Association of Yoga Studies (aYs) for both group and individual yoga tuition. She has been teaching group and individual classes in West Cumbria since completing her training in 2009. Retiring from her ‘day job’ as a Senior Psychotherapist in the NHS from September 2021, she has been able to spend more time developing her yoga practice. Currently she has embarked on further training within a three year Vedic chant course alongside her normal Continual Professional Development within this approach to Yoga.

This accessible approach to yoga is adapted to the individual’s ability and need. Alongside the practical practices (incorporating asana (movement), breath (pranayama), meditation (dhyana) and chanting Amanda informs and provides context through short presentations on the philosophy and theoretical framework of this personally adaptable yoga tradition. An opportunity to explore and deepen your understanding of this comprehensive discipline.
