The British BMG Federation Summer School 2018
June 1st – 3rd 2018
It is with great pleasure that Higham welcomes practitioners of the banjo, mandolin and guitar to the scenic Northern Lake District.
Tutors are:
Mauro Squillante: The Baroque concerto grosso – Avison's arrangements of Domenico Scarlatti's harpsichord sonatas. For mandolinists the course focuses on good legato and clear phrasing. For mandola, mandocello, guitar and bass players the course concentrates on rich nuances of harmony. For intermediate and advanced players reading music notation.
Chris Sands: Classic Finger-style 5-string Banjo This course will concentrate on improving technique. Participants will study solos and discover how alternative fingerings can improve performance. Also covered will be exercises for development of the hands. For intermediate and advanced players reading music notation.
Nigel Gatherer: Folk Band – traditional music from the British Isles. Presenting and arranging tunes and songs in an exciting and interesting way, including putting sets together and use of harmony and dynamics to enhance music. Open to all instruments and levels of experience.
