Jonny Flockton (MA Arts, BA Hons, P.G.C.E, L.G.S.M, A.T.C.L) has been performing and teaching in a wide range of contexts for 25 years.
Jonny has performed at many of the UK's and Irelands leading festivals, including Glastonbury every year for 14 years, as well as many tours and gigs playing original music. In addition, Jonny works as a session player, for other artists and playing guitar for television and theatre. Rock legend Iggy Pop described his play as “a very unique and learned guitarist” on BBC Radio 6 music in 2024.
Jonny is a Principal Lecturer in music, teaching one-to-one guitar and performance in context lectures at Leeds Conservatoire, teaching on the B.A. Pop M.A. postgraduate masters course. His teaching specialism is electric and acoustic guitar one to one and delivering guitar workshops. He has taught adult guitar short courses at the Conservatoire for the last 15 years and led specialist project weeks for the undergraduates on subjects including music psychology, contextual studies, performance anxiety and classical guitar for the electric guitarist. Jonny has received two most inspiring teacher awards from students at the college. He also runs a teaching studio and runs a community adult band.
