What is ‘the landscape’ and how do contemporary artists work with it? It might be said that we are shaped by our world (or our ideas of it) as much as we, as humans, shape it. This course, centred on your own studio practice, will consider what the landscape means to us as artists, and how we might respond to it as subject matter. Using group tutorials, exercises, examples of contemporary practitioners, and briefs designed to stimulate your thinking, you will be encouraged to develop and reflect upon your own approaches and concepts around ‘the landscape’ as a potential subject, and to extend your use and technical handling of your chosen medium/media.
