CREATIVE BOOK EDGE DECORATION

‘Edge Decoration’ is a specialist bookbinding art which decorates or ornaments the page edges of a book. Traditionally this would be a marbled or gilt finish but this workshop will focus on more creative approaches and will include the following techniques: sprinkled gold leaf (sunago), transfer print, watercolour & acrylic ink painting, graphite, gold & blind tooling (gaughering) and multi-media finishes.  Students will also learn how to smooth and prepare book edges by sanding, scraping and burnishing. No previous experience necessary.
