From Mozart’s ever popular Eine Kleine Nachtmusik we will take in Mendelssohn’s stunning Octet and the string serenades by Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Elgar not forgetting Grieg’s Holberg Suite. English composers made an important contribution to the string orchestra and we will finish with familiar works by Holst, Vaughan Williams and Warlock.
