A legacy gift to Higham is free from inheritance tax and may reduce your inheritance tax rate if more than 10% of your estate is left to charity. You can donate a fixed amount, an item or specific gift, such as property or shares, or what is left after other gifts have been given out (the Residue of your estate).
Please contact the Principal if you would like to make a named gift or a gift in memory; this could be commemorated by, for example, an annual concert or lecture, or a bursary to study in a particular subject.
If you have already made a Will, it is a simple process to add a gift to Higham Hall by means of a Codicil. You will need to consult your solicitor. They will be able to advise on the type of legacy that best suits your wishes, whether it is a fixed amount, a residuary gift (a percentage of your estate) or a specific gift (such as property or shares).
Please inform your solicitor of our full charity name, number, registered address:
Higham Hall College (charity number 1124959)
Bassenthwaite Lake

By leaving a legacy to Higham, you will ensure the continuation of our educational programmes and creating opportunities for creativity, discovery and personal growth for all who come after you.
