The ancient Egyptians are almost immediate recognisable from their many depictions and the human body features prominently in Ancient Egyptian art. This course examines evidence for painting, sculpture and relief to show changing fashions of representing the body over time – in art and in hieroglyphic writing. How reliable are these as a guide to what people looked like? What associations did each body part have in Egyptian thinking?
