DRAWING AND PAINTING LAKELAND CHURCHES

The northern Lake District contains many characterful old churches set in beautiful rural locations including ones surrounded by mountains and hilly meadows and one or two with views across to the wide Solway estuary. Join Lionel on seven sketching and painting expeditions to various churches and churchyards to hone your skills in drawing both architectural and natural forms using line tone, colour and mark to capture their unique sense of place. There will be demonstrations throughout including line drawing, tonal studies and mixed media in colour. We will gain inspiration for different expressive approaches by reference to the work of great artists from William Turner, John Piper to Shiela Fell and Percy Kelly.
