Caroline Buckley

Caroline is a botanical artist based in a Lancashire village on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, an area which provides much inspiration for her botanical art. After studying an Art Foundation Course, she read Geography and Biology at Exeter University. She has always loved the natural world and botanical art enables her to combine her love of art with her understanding of plants in their environment.

She uses coloured pencils as her favoured medium as she appreciates the depth and vibrancy of colour that can be achieved whilst also incorporating the accurate details necessary for botanical illustration.

After graduating from SBA Diploma Courses, with a Distinction and the Award for Excellence, she gained a position as the first Artist-In-Residence for the RHS Plant Review magazine for 2024. Caroline received the SBA Award: Exhibiting Excellence in Colour and the Colour Pencil Sponsor's Award in the Planta exhibition subsequently becoming a Fellow of the SBA in 2025. She also exhibited in the Botanical Art Worldwide 2025 exhibition and is Programme Organiser for the Florilegium Society at the Sheffield Botanical Gardens.
