A Bradel binding (also called a bonnet or Bristol board binding) is an 18th century German case binding. It most resembles a case binding but instead, it is built up on the book. Many bookbinders consider the Bradel binding to be stronger than a case binding, and there is more than one way of making one. This will be a fun book to make as we will be colouring the edges and using coloured cloth or even leather and marbled paper to cover it with, to make it just that little bit more special.
