Ukraine`s struggle for self determination in the face of Russian oppression was preceded by that of Finland . Artists ,we have no examples of in our galleries ,developed inspiring images of their homeland & people which contributed significantly to independence .The life & art of Albert Edelfelt and the outstanding Akseli Gallen -Kallela come as a revelation to most ,truly deserving to be better known.
