A performance-based workshop with Martin Roscoe where up to 10 players of Grade 7 standard and above prepare a short recital of between 15-20 minutes to play to the other participants. If possible, please bring along extra copies of the works being performed for the other players. Martin will provide constructive suggestions for improving aspects of interpretation, technique, and performance. All is given in a friendly, supportive and non-competitive atmosphere with many opportunities for group discussion. There will be a joint recital on the final morning where non-performing listeners are also welcome.
We are delighted to welcome Martin to lead this course at Higham. He will be taking the baton from the wonderful John Gough. Martin is one of the UK’s most loved and respected pianists. A consummate musician in great demand as a concerto soloist, chamber musician and recitalist, he has performed in venues across the globe, appeared regularly at Wigmore Hall and has longstanding associations with many of the UK’s leading orchestras. He is also a prolific recording artist and one of the most broadcast pianists on BBC radio but has always made time for teaching. He is currently Professor of Piano at the Guildhall School of Music, London.
