SUNDAY LECTURE: Understanding the Anthropocene
May 25th at 14:00 to 16:00

The Anthropocene is the proposed new phase of Earth’s history that tries to articulate how humans shape the Earth system. But what is the Anthropocene, why does it matter so much to academics, and why should it matter to the wider public? In this talk we will explore how the Anthropocene upends environmental, social and cultural norms that have dominated modern society, and forces us to fundamentally rethink how we view our landscapes, communities and ways of living.
Dr Simon Carr FRGS, FRSA is Associate Professor of Geography in the Institute of Science & Environment, University of Cumbria.
