Master of Fine Art & professional landscape painter from the North Pennines. Likes to incorporate influences such as setting, architecture & industrial heritage. Very experienced tutor having taught hundreds of courses in painting and drawing in adult ed for over 23 years. Experienced in helping people of a wide range of ability in painting and drawing. Range of teaching is broad from life drawing and portraiture to still life and landscape in all the main media. Lionel's recent PhD researched links between art and climate change science - involving an expedition down the Atlantic to Cape Town.
Lionel is great at coaxing artists to be artists - allowing time for individuals to develop their skills under a wide range of themes. His expertise and knowledge spans all aspects of art, different eras and styles, enabling him to present many different contexts to stimulate and guide his students.
