Marion Boddy-Evans is a landscape painter based in rural Aberdeenshire, and on the Isle of Skye before this. Her approach to painting is expressive and intuitive, letting the materials guide her exploration of a subject. She regularly paints on location, particularly at the coast, as well as in her home studio.
Marion enjoys working with watercolour, acrylics, and oils, with additional layers of coloured pencil and oil pastel. Fast-drying paints enable her to work quickly, layer upon layer, building her way to a painting. The short drying-time lends an urgency to the creation process, breathing vitality into the mark making. Layered mark making produces paintings that tell different stories when you view them from a distance and up close.
As a tutor, Marion is known for her infectious enthusiasm, being generous in sharing her knowledge, and giving individual attention to participants. She believes in enjoying the painting process, allowing for a painting to develop, and not worrying about the outcome before you've even started.
