I have always been creative. When I was a thirteen, I had the opportunity to learn leatherwork at a youth camp, and instantly loved it. Leather is such a lovely natural, tactile product to work with. In 2011, I decided to turn my love of leatherwork into a business and launched Roslyn Whiting Leathercraft. I use traditional leatherwork methods with an added creative twist. I use my own drawings and designs to hand-tool onto the leather. I hand-stitch using the striking saddlery stitch creating quality, durable products that will develop a lovely patina. All my leathers are vegetable tanned, which is the traditional way of tanning leather using tree bark and no chemicals. In my courses I share my knowledge of this great traditional craft. My workshops are for both beginners and people who have done leatherwork before, and want to develop and improve their skills. My workshops range from hand stitching belts, wallets, journals to hand-tooling designs onto leather. All tools and materials are included in my courses and you can buy extra leather if you wish to make more products when you get home.
