Kim Tillyer

Cyanotype

Kim Tillyer is originally from North Yorkshire where she studied BA (hons) Textiles and Surface Design at CCAD (now The Northern School of Art) and began exploring print techniques that could be applied both to paper and fabric without the need for expensive specialist equipment such as presses or exposure units.

Kim’s use of the cyanotype process combines plants and natural objects, found in her Lake District surroundings, along with hand drawn and photographic elements.

Unlike many other forms of printmaking her prints are one off pieces, directly affected by the time, light and movement of elements during the printing process. Each piece is unique and ethereal, featuring illustrative images in shades of blue and white. Works often include intricate hand embroidered details to add colour or texture.

Kim has exhibited her work widely throughout the UK, appeared on BBC Countryfile and published “Beginner’s Guide to Cyanotype” with Search Press in May 2024.
