“As an artist, the fleeting qualities of light and colour excite me. I am trying to grasp the internal qualities, the essential mood and spirit of place. Sometimes I use a straightforward, representational approach, but increasingly I am exploring the abstract. I love to experiment with texture and colour and follow themes and ideas of work, large and small.” FW

Expand your experimental work, build up texture and surface on paintings using winter landscapes for inspiration: rocks, mountains, water and the structure of trees, shrubs and built elements. Look at limiting colour and dramatic colour schemes to add drama, representing the spirit of the landscape. Representational in character, your landscape work also may be expressively abstract.
