Lis Binns (Patchwork and Quilting)

May 4th at 07:16

  • Experienced tutor with teaching and City and Guilds qualifications.
  • Teaches regular classes at Inspirations in Preston and Creative Threads in Garstang.
  • Also gives talks and runs workshops for different groups and venues.
  • Lis started doing patchwork in 2006 but has been sewing most of her life (dressmaking, embroidery, blackwork, etc)

“Patchwork and quilting is a fun way of making something big out of something small.  Before you know it, a few pieces put together can become a throw, a wall hanging, a bag, a full bed quilt or just a cushion.

“Each course focuses on a different technique from American block patchwork to appliqué to different types of quilting.  Each technique could be used to make a variety of things.

“Come and find out how much fun it is to cut up fabric only to sew it together again!  New and experienced patchworkers are welcome.” L.B.

We have tried to put examples of certain techniques below – Lis can help with anything you are already working on (we know the term UFO – Unfinished Objects – is recognised in many Quilting circles). By its nature, quiliting can start off with small projects and expand infinitely. Lis can start you off if needs be or you can bring existing work for attention and Lis advise as you go along.
