Dr Peter Wilson (Geological Science)

May 19th at 05:12

Originated from Nelson, Lancashire – but currently residing in Northern Ireland. Retired lecturer of the University of Ulster. Continuing active involvement in geological study

Dr Peter Wilson Peter Wilson, a Lancastrian by birth, is now retired from teaching aspects of physical geography at Ulster University. However, he continues to carry out research into the age and origin of mountain landforms in northwest England, Ireland and Norway. He has many research publications to his name as well as his book Lake District Mountain Landforms.
Peter’s courses have a Geological basis, and are themed around the opportunities for anyone to discover what land forms relate about the past, including the impact of human activities, the elements and phenomena.
Designed to complement or as an alternative to our other Geological courses with Annette McGrath, Peter brings a lifetime of experience to open up the incredible landscape Higham has on its doorstep. A mixture of lectures and Field Trips, much can be viewed from the roadside, or through short walks (usually less than 3km) following mainly footpaths. A chance, therefore, for walks where anyone with decent footwear (and waterproofs!) may learn about the geological aspects of the landscape.
