Toni is an internationally recognised illuminator, one of the few artists still using traditional manuscript gilding skills. She enjoys creating new work using hand prepared, natural materials. These include 24 carat gold leaf, mineral, earth and plant pigments, handmade inks, vellum and gemstones such as sapphires and emeralds.

She is the author of Contemporary Illumination for the Calligrapher and Artist: Traditional Techniques Reinterpreted (2024).
