Surprisingly, the winter garden can offer some much-needed colour
and even scent with interesting subjects to cheer the winter chill: plants
such as Hamamelis, Lonicera Fragrantisima, Viburnum Bodnantense,
Sarcoccoca, Chimonanthus Praecox, Hellebores, delicate Cyclamen
Coum and maybe some early flowering bulbs like Snowdrops as
well as bright Holly berries and many types of evergreen. If venturing
outside is too daunting, there are lots of houseplants to choose as your
subject including the exotic Amaryllis, Christmas Cactus and colourful
indoor Cyclamen.
