MOVING AWAY FROM REALISM WITH STILL LIFE

September 22nd at 18:30 to September 25th at 13:30

As the title suggests we will be looking at ways to gently move your art from strict copy work into more creative territory. Why still life? Well, still life is an area of art where artists can be more experimental, because they can play more easily with the components. If you don’t like something where it is, you can just pick it up and move it. Not possible with landscape and sometimes tricky with figure work. If you couple this flexibility with learning to interpret your reference, perhaps changing or even distorting it, still life becomes a playground for creative endeavour, which partly explains why Cezanne and later Picasso used it extensively in their more experimental work. Stir in a little of your personality, ideas, feeling and still life becomes a hot bed for helping you develop your art.
