REPRESENTING ROYALTY: THE PHARAOH IN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ART

The Pharaoh dominated ancient Egyptian official art. This course examines how and why this was the case, investigating evidence from the Predynastic Period to the Roman occupation of Egypt. What is a sphinx, exactly? How many crowns does one king need? Why does Akhenaten look so odd? Come for answers to these and more questions!
