THE LIFE OF BUILDINGS: PAST PRESENT FUTURES

September 20th at 18:30 to September 22nd at 13:30

In almost every town or village, there’s a building built, once upon a time, for a purpose that no longer exists. It might be a church without a congregation, a big house without a household, or an institution without an institute. What do, or could, we do with such buildings? This course will tell the stories of six such buildings – three at home, and three abroad – in which local communities
are grappling with this question, using bricks and mortar, but also memories and legacies – to (re)build new futures – not just for those buildings, but for the communities that care for them, too. And this course also invites you to share your own stories of buildings and communities and to imagine new futures for them.
