A career in music was not in Trona’s original life-plan. However, after devising teaching strategies to support youngsters at a local community band, she was asked to take a few private students…and things mushroomed from there! Relevant skills and qualifications were acquired along the way, as time and funds permitted.
Trona believes passionately in the value of group music-making – not merely to reinforce individual learning, but for its many social and well-being benefits. Frustrated by the lack of entry-level support given to adult learners and returners, she and her late mother, Patricia, started a programme of one-off workshops in Perthshire, focussing on small ensemble skills. The pair were honoured to be nominated for Classic FM’s Music Teacher of the Year by workshop participants, and to receive a Highly Commended award.
Trona is also a prolific arranger of music for small mixed instrument combinations.
