Paul is passionate about passing on his skills and knowledge to others - a good virtue for a Higham Tutor! Animals can be represented brilliantly in Pastel - and we think every artist should have a go at pastelling a cow as part of their artistic journey, so that is where we start!
"Having worked in pen and ink, watercolour and acrylic, several years ago I discovered pastel and have been captivated by this versatile medium ever since. In my animal portraits I aim to capture not only a realistic representation but also the character and personality of my subject.In my abstract work, I am looking to explore the opportunities of mixing pastels with other media, depicting emotions and fleeting moments in time.
It also gives me great pleasure to pass on my knowledge and experience at demonstrations and workshops." PH

Learn about the different ways you can use pencil, layering, blending, removing colour to create texture and depth. Bring your own good quality coloured pencils (tutor will be using Derwent Inktense), together with an A3 size folder
