Philip Gruar (Recorders and Early Music)

  3. Philip Gruar (Recorders and Early Music)
  • based in S. Cumbria, Specialist Early music recorder tutor.
  • with several ‘strings to his bow’, Philip Is actually one of just a few Northumbrian pipe makers - these are similar to bagpipes, but bellowed.
Philip’s sessions at our EARLY MUSIC SUMMER SCHOOL have proved so popular that he now offers an additional opportunity for recorder players to enjoy developing their playing in a small workshop. Often, by sheer genius of planning, coinciding with a Viol workshop (run by his wife, Elizabeth Dodd), there is now an opportunity for a bit of unique cross-fertilisation, players of different instruments in consort, etc.
