Robert Dutton – (Expressive Art)
December 4th at 09:40
- Admired expressive award-winning artist and highly-praised tutor from West Yorkshire
- His creative energy is catching for his students – we don’t know how he does it!
- Robert taps the wonderful surroundings of where he delivers to get those creative juices flowing.
- Enjoy both demos and genuine personal encouragement on all aspects of expressive painting and drawing
In depth details about every course Robert does at Higham, can be found on his own excellent website: www.rdcreative.co.uk – Robert is very active as a Tutor all over the place and it is nice when students he has taught elsewhere discover little ol’ Higham.
- Robert puts a huge amount of support in for his students, including follow-up and pre-information:
See, for example: - More examples of Robert’s approach can be found on the websites of companies he acts as an ambassador for – he’s a busy bee!
Robert pops up to Higham regularly because people rave about his infectious enthusiasm and energy. Lots of this comes from what the landscape and views can offer artists when they are interpreted in the right way – Robert uses location as a start, often with photographs, and is strong on demos to show you what can be achieved. The results from Students can often be breathtaking.

“Wow, just wow – I never thought I could be so expressive. It’s a leap of faith, but the energy now comes through in my painting.”
“What can I say? I totally get why you have Robert as a tutor. He passes on his energy and vibrancy by giving his students the confidence to go ahead and feel they CAN do it! A fantastic time. One of the best courses I have ever been on, anywhere. (and I’ve been on a few!)”
“Robert excellent. I felt I had gained an enormous amount and would certainly attend further courses by him.”
“Helped me loosen up my [pastel] technique.”
“When is Robert coming again?”
“Lots of work and information but I have a new pride in what I can do.”
‘Great to capture the scenery on the trips. Robert never stops!”
“I came because of Robert’s [charcoal] picture on the staircase. I thought I’ll never do that – but I have! Feel totally inspired and renewed to do more. Thanks Robert!”
