BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION – HERBS AND SPICES USING COLOURED PENCILS
June 2nd at 18:30 to June 6th at 13:30

Herbs are the forgotten ‘poor relations’ of the botanical painting world. They may not be as ‘showy’ as the more flamboyant flowers, but they are nevertheless beautiful – and very interesting. On this course we take the opportunity to study a few herbs in detail and record them in coloured pencils and graphite. We will also add some ‘spice’ to the course with the introduction of items such as chillies, peppers, ginger, lemon grass, star anise etc. Plant availability will depend on the weather, what is available in our gardens and grocery stores at the time. If you have herbs in your garden do bring some along. This course will be a great way to explore a multitude of green shades as well as learning how to cope with tiny detail. Group demonstrations and individual tuition will be offered throughout.
