Haydn’s Surprise, Clock and London symphonies confirm his mastery as the so-called Father of the Symphony. Mozart’s final three symphonies, nos. 39, 40 & 41 are generally regarded as his finest symphonic works. Ian will pinpoint matters of form and style.
